[시사뉴스 김철 기자] 청도군(군수 김하수)과 ㈜에이트테크(대표 박태형)는 지난 13일 생활폐기물 중 재활용품을 선별하는 AI로봇 개발을 위한 업무협약을 체결하였다.

이번 업무협약은 재활용품을 선별하는 AI로봇 개발 관련 내용을 담고 있어, 사람이 직접 손으로 재활용품을 분류하던 기존 방식에서 벗어날 전망이다. 재활용품 선별 AI로봇은 컨베이어벨트 위를 지나가는 재활용품을 카메라로 인식해 인공지능으로 분석하고, 이를 자동 선별 및 분류하는 장치이다.

박태형 대표는 “AI로봇을 지속적으로 발전시켜 재활용 가능한 자원이 미분리되어 버려지지 않도록 청도군과 함께 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.

김하수 청도군수는 “생활폐기물 중 재활용품이 선별되지 못해 매립 또는 소각 처리되어 환경오염을 발생시켰으나, AI로봇 활용으로 재활용률 제고와 3D업종으로 인한 인력난 해소에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.”라고 말했다.

한편, 청도군과 ㈜에이트테크는 청도환경관리센터 생활자원회수시설 자원 선별라인 자동화에 필요한 추가 설비 개발도 추진할 계획이다.

"We will continue to develop AI robots and work with Qingdao County to ensure that recyclable resources are not thrown away unsorted," said Park Tae-hyung.

"Recyclables among household waste were not sorted and were landfilled or incinerated, causing environmental pollution, but it is expected that the use of AI robots will help improve the recycling rate and solve the labor shortage caused by the 3D industry," said Kim Ha-soo, head of Cheongdo-gun.

Meanwhile, Qingdao County and Eight Tech are also planning to develop additional facilities necessary for automating the resource sorting line at the Qingdao Environmental Management Center's household resource recovery facility.
